YOU'LL THRIVE HERE IF YOU:

Teach fundamental middle school math concepts like ratios, proportions, expressions, equations, and number systems through engaging, hands-on activities
Develop a culturally responsive curriculum that connects mathematics to students' lived experiences and utilizes diverse problem-solving approaches
Inspire students to wrestle with challenging problems and think critically about multiple solution pathways
Demonstrate infectious enthusiasm for mathematics that instills confidence and meaningful engagement in all learners
Meet weekly with your principal and instructional coach to analyze student work samples and assessment data to drive instruction
Learn and apply differentiation strategies that ensure every student can access and excel in mathematics
Develop positive relationships with students to make them feel seen, valued, and heard in your classroom
Partner with families to ensure adequate resources and support are available for each child's learning journey
Serve as an exemplar of our core values while actively supporting student progress through school-wide initiatives
Collaborate with your grade level team to set academic objectives and implement effective teaching techniques
Create a classroom culture where mathematical discourse and mistake-making are celebrated as learning opportunities
Use real-world applications to help students understand the relevance of mathematical concepts in their daily lives

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree (minimum)
NJ Teaching Certificate in Mathematics (Certificate of Eligibility acceptable)
Cultural sensitivity and the ability to communicate across lines of difference
Subject matter expertise in middle school mathematics
Team-oriented mindset with high expectations for students
Understanding of adolescent development and mathematical learning progressions
